Chadiza Town Council has received approval from the Provincial Local Government Officer to implement the 2026 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, marking an important step in strengthening health, education, water, justice, and public infrastructure across the district.

Council Secretary Grace Wina said the projects are focused on meeting everyday community needs and supporting long-term development. “This is about improving services that people rely on daily, from healthcare and schools to water and public facilities,” she said.

Among the key projects is the completion of Ndapya Rural Health Post, which will bring medical services closer to surrounding communities. The Council will also construct new classroom blocks at Mtaya, Mkumbuzi, Chiwongo, Chamaseche, and Bwanunkha Day schools, as well as a staff house at Kaundu Primary School to support teachers working in rural areas.

Director of Engineering Services Munaye Samapimbi said the planned procurement of a hydraulic excavator will strengthen the Council’s ability to carry out road works, drainage, and other infrastructure maintenance, allowing for quicker response to community needs.

Water projects will include the connection of piped water in Tigwrizani Area, the installation of a water scheme at the District Abattoir, and the rehabilitation of boreholes in all wards. The Council will also construct a Local Court at Zingalume Area and upgrade the district showgrounds to improve facilities for sports and community activities.

In addition, Chadiza Town Council will make a joint contribution towards the development of Chipata Central Hospital, supporting the construction of a Mothers’ Dormitory, Ablution Block, and Cooking Shelter to improve care for expectant mothers and their families.

The Council said it remains committed to working closely with communities as the projects move into the implementation phase, to ensure transparency and timely delivery for the benefit of all residents.
