Chadiza District Launches Budget Consultation Exercise

Chadiza District has officially commenced its budget consultation process, inviting residents and stakeholders to participate in planning for the next financial year.

The consultation meetings, which began this week, will provide a platform for community members to voice their priorities and contribute to decisions on how district resources should be allocated.

Speaking during the launch, Council Secretary Mwansa Mumba emphasized the importance of community participation in the budgeting process.

“We want to ensure that the budget reflects the real needs of our people. This is why we are engaging residents across all wards to hear their priorities and concerns,” Mumba said.

The Council Secretary noted that the exercise promotes transparency and accountability in local governance, ensuring that development projects are aligned with community aspirations.

Residents are expected to highlight key concerns in areas such as road infrastructure, health facilities, education, agriculture support, and water supply during the consultations.

The meetings will be held across various wards in Chadiza to ensure inclusive participation from all corners of the district.

Mumba urged citizens to turn out in large numbers and actively engage in the process, stressing that their input is crucial in shaping the district’s development agenda.

The budget consultations form part of Zambia’s decentralization efforts, which seek to empower communities to have a direct say in how public funds are spent at the local level.
