Students at Kabvumo Primary School will have proper classroom space when they return next term, thanks to a new three-classroom block being constructed by Chadiza Town Council.
The council has been supervising the project closely to ensure it’s completed before schools reopen. Using funds from the 2025 CDF allocation, they’ve kept the local contractor on schedule despite the tight timeline.
The school has been battling overcrowding for years as families continue moving into the area.
“We’ve had children crammed into spaces meant for much fewer,” said parent Agnes Banda. “My daughter comes home saying she can’t see the chalkboard because there are too many children in front of her. These new rooms will make such a difference for all our children.”
Council Secretary Mwansa Mumba visited the construction site last week and expressed satisfaction with the progress.
“The council’s job is to implement and supervise these CDF projects,” Mumba said. “We knew Kabvumo Primary needed urgent help and we are ensuring our contractor delivers quality work on time.”
Director of Engineering Munaye Samapimbi, who has been overseeing the technical supervision of the project, confirmed that construction is on track. “We have maintained strict quality control throughout this project,” Samapimbi explained. “Our supervision ensures the classrooms will meet all Ministry of Education standards and will serve this community for many years.”
The project includes modern desks and chairs for each of the three classrooms. The school has been struggling with severe overcrowding in its existing rooms.
With the additional space, class sizes will become much more manageable and closer to Ministry of Education recommendations.
