Residents of Chafulu can now see the roof beams of what will soon become their new health clinic, as construction workers put the finishing touches on the Outpatient Department at Chafulu Health Facility.

The completed roofing marks real progress on one of four health clinics being built across Chadiza District this year through the Constituency Development Fund. For many locals, it can’t come soon enough.

“People here have been traveling long distances just to see a doctor,” says Mwansa Mumba, Council Secretary for Chadiza Council. “This new facility will change that.”

The clinic won’t just offer medical services – it’s part of a larger community development push. Plans include installing a water supply system that will serve both the health facility and nearby homes, bringing clean, reliable water to an area that has long needed it.

“The new outpatient department will help reduce crowding at existing clinics and make healthcare easier to get for families who had to travel far for basic medical care,” says Munaye Samapimbi, Director of Engineering. “The water system will also improve cleanliness and create new opportunities for local residents.”

This construction boom reflects the government’s renewed focus on strengthening healthcare in rural areas, ensuring people don’t have to choose between their health and the cost of traveling to distant medical facilities.

With the roof now complete, workers are moving on to interior finishing work. If everything stays on schedule, the Ministry of Health should be able to take over operations before the year is out, bringing much-needed medical services right to Chafulu’s doorstep.
