The 5.8 Kilometre road linking Kapachi and Mwala has been successfully rehabilitated under the Constituency Development Fund, providing residents with direct access between the two communities.
Previously, residents had to travel through Chadiza’s central business district to reach Chipata and other parts of the district, a longer and more expensive route. The rehabilitated road now offers a more efficient alternative.
Chadiza Town Council Director of Engineering Munaye Samampimbi confirmed completion of the project and provided updates on ongoing works in the area.
“We have completed the 5.8 Kilometre rehabilitation between Kapachi and Mwala,” Samapimbi said. “Works have also commenced on the road linking Kapachi to the Boma, where two kilometres of road formation have been completed.”
He added that spot gravelling on all roads already formed will begin once the newly procured water bowser arrives in the district, ensuring the roads remain accessible during all weather conditions.
The project forms part of broader infrastructure development efforts by the local authority using CDF resources to improve rural connectivity and service delivery across the district.
So far, the council has completed almost 30 kilometres of road formation out of an expected 128 kilometres targeted for 2025 under the CDF program.
