Chadiza Town Council has completed road formation works on a 10 kilometre stretch in Chanjowe Ward. Graveling and compaction will begin soon as the next phase of construction.
The project is funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and aims to rehabilitate 138 kilometres of economic roads across the district.
“This is not just road construction; it is about transforming lives. These roads will enhance access to schools, health facilities, and economic opportunities,” said Council Secretary Mr. Mumba David Mwansa.
Engineers are currently identifying a suitable borrow pit to source gravel before proceeding with the next construction phase.
“We have completed road formation for the 10 kilometres in Chanjowe Ward, and we are now moving into the graveling and compaction phase,” explained Engineering Director Eng. Munaye Samapimbi. “Good roads are the arteries of any thriving community.”
The improved infrastructure will reduce travel time for pupils and provide quicker access to health services for residents in remote areas. Fuel for the heavy machinery has already been secured through CDF funding.
The Council has urged community members to support the project and guard against vandalism, ensuring the roads serve generations to come.
