Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Paul Thole has commended Chadiza Town Council for effectively implementing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects during a monitoring visit to the district yesterday.

During his inspection of community projects and initiatives supported through CDF grants and loans, Thole expressed satisfaction with how both the council and project beneficiaries have utilized the funds to drive local development.

“The efforts by Chadiza Town Council and the beneficiaries of the CDF are commendable. The projects I have seen here demonstrate commitment and proper use of resources to bring tangible benefits to the community,” Thole said.

While commending the overall progress, Mr. Thole highlighted key infrastructure needs that require attention. He specifically pointed to the need for additional crossing points to improve accessibility in the district, particularly in rural areas where connectivity remains a challenge.

“More crossing points are needed to ensure seamless movement of people and goods, which is essential for unlocking the district’s economic potential,” he noted.

The Permanent Secretary also emphasized the importance of electrical wiring in critical infrastructure, such as classroom blocks, to enable schools to connect to the ZESCO power grid or adopt solar energy solutions.

Responding to these concerns, Chadiza Town Council Director of Planning Ansela Mulenga assured the Permanent Secretary that the council would address the highlighted issues. “We will continue working closely with the community and other stakeholders to ensure that these projects are implemented to their fullest potential, addressing all areas of improvement,”
